Amanda Lawrence has worked in various settings undertaking direct and indirect work with and for children with additional and complex needs, throughout her working career to date. Amanda’s experience has been gained through a variety of different working roles held; inclusive of working as a teaching assistant within a specialist school for children with physical and learning disabilities and within the NHS supporting and working with children who have physical and learning disabilities. She has also worked with private organisations within community settings and within family homes of children with behavioural challenges; life limiting illnesses and complex needs.
Amanda started working within a large Local Authority in 2005 as a support worker in the Complex Needs Team, while alongside undertaking her degree in social work studies. She went on to qualify with a BA Hons Degree in Social work in 2009. Amanda then moved in to the role of Supervising Social Worker within the Complex Needs Team. Shortly after qualifying the team Amanda was working in merged into the mainstream, where she undertook her role within the mainstream with a specialism in disability.
Before moving from the Local Authority to join with UK Fostering in 2017, Amanda undertook the co-ordination of the Short Breaks and Multi Links service and sat on the Specialist Resource Panel which approved; co-ordinated and distributed specialist resources for children with additional and complex needs. Amanda has also facilitated training in fostering standards and other relevant training modules.
