Susie Turner -Supervising Social Worker

September 10, 2016

I started my career working as a business support officer taking child protection referrals for the Local Authority. During this time I undertook voluntary work with unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees and supervised contact between children and their parents when cases were in the court arena.

Whilst studying at university I worked for a service user led charity providing activities, emotional support and benefits advice to people suffering mental ill health with the purpose of preventing hospital readmissions.

Upon qualifying as a Social Worker I have worked in the leaving care and child protection arena, with a particular interest in care proceedings and permanence planning. I also spent a year working within the Local Authority commissioning team, sourcing and quality assuring foster and residential placements for children.

Alongside my statutory work I have undertaken freelance form F assessments for independent agencies and have sat as Panel Social Worker which has been an invaluable experience.

I have undertaken postgraduate study and have diplomas in child and adolescent counselling and behaviour management. I am also an accredited family group conference facilitator.

I am passionate about ensuring good outcomes for Looked after children, in particular around planning for independence.
