Sophie – Supervising Social Worker

Hi, my name is Sophie.

I recently joined UK Fostering in November 2022 as a supervising social worker as part of the North east team.

I qualified as a social worker in 2020 after graduating from Northumbria University. I have recently moved to the UK Fostering team after working in Children’s frontline safeguarding for 2 years supporting children and families.

Throughout my Social Work degree, I worked supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the North of England Refugee Service. In this role, I supported adults and young people with asylum applications, housing issues and health related issues as well as supporting them in learning English and offering emotional support. In the final year of my social work degree, I worked in the looked after children’s team in a busy local authority where I supported children and foster carers, facilitated life story work and supervised family contacts.

I am really looking forward to settling into my new role within UK Fostering and building positive relationships with foster carers and young people. I am passionate about ensuring foster carers receive good quality support in order to support children and young people to achieve and reach their full potential.

Outside of work I enjoy going out with my friends and family, going shopping and trying new restaurants. I also love going on long walks, exploring new places and reading.
