Sophie – Supervising Social Worker

Hi, my name is Sophie.
I’m a senior supervising social worker and have been part of the UK Fostering team since November 2022. I am based in the Northeast office which is located in Sunderland. I am also the lead for Missing children and young people within UK Fostering and work closely with my colleagues to safeguard children and young people most at risk. I thoroughly enjoy my job and im passionate about providing good quality support to foster carers, children, and young people. I appreciate the hard work of all foster carers and feel privileged to work alongside them. I am part of the UK Fostering Children’s and Young People’s Council. Ensuring young people’s voices are heard  is something I continue to value.

I initially qualified as a Social worker in 2020 and started my career working in a children’s frontline safeguarding team. I worked within this team for 2 years supporting children and families. Throughout my time at university I also spent time in a busy looked after children’s team and a refugee service supporting asylum seekers and refugees.

Outside of work I spend a lot of time outdoors. I have a 1-year-old golden retriever so spend most of my time at the beach or on long dog walks in Northumberland. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family, trying new restaurants and visiting new places. “
