On June 7th, we took a group of young people and foster families out for the day to visit Buttercups Goat Sanctuary. Buttercups is a large sanctuary near Maidstone in Kent for goats who need a safe and caring home. It is the only rescue facility just for goats in the whole of the UK. This includes goats who have been abandoned, rescued, or outgrown their homes.
We were given an introduction and history of the sanctuary, as well as a tour, by a member of staff. We were then taught how to brush and feed the goats. We spent time in the paddock with all the goats, and we had a vote to decide which goat UK Fostering would adopt. A small but very confident goat named Neville won with the most votes, after his antics jumping on tables to get noticed for some cuddles. Finally, we had a picnic and ice cream, before just missing the rain and ending our lovely day out.
It was a fantastic outing where children and families had a chance to spend some quality time together and meet some very cute and cheeky goats! 😊
