For children growing up in care, it can be difficult to ever feel settled, even when they leave the care system. I feel very strongly that all children deserve to feel as though they are truly cared about, and that they can be part of a loving family unit.
In support of the work done by UK Fostering, I am offering free family portrait sessions for medium to long-term new placements and care leavers. I have worked as a fully qualified, self-employed photographer at Celynnen Photography now for seven years and I have extensive experience in social photography shoots. I have won many awards for my work over the years, namely The Welsh National Wedding Awards for both 2012 and 2013.
I feel that it is very important for children who are fostered to recognise that they are an important part of a family, something which would be achieved through a constant visual reminder of a family portrait. I am equally as keen for the children to simply experience the family portrait session; to feel as though they are truly part of a family.
I feel very strongly about this cause and have seen first hand how supporting children in care can have a massive benefit, both to the child as well as the family who support them. My family fostered many children when I was a child, and it was a great experience. I have also supported looked after children during my time working with the education authority, and I get a great feeling giving something back to others in any way that I can.

What is a free photo session and what does it include?
A free photo session is normally an hour long (but can be 1 1/2 for children under 8 to allow them to settle). The shoot itself would normally cost £150 which includes credit for a print.
£20 will be included free which enables a foster family to have a photo shoot and a 8×10 print absolutely free. More photos can be purchased by the family if desired.
