Foster Care Fortnight is nearly upon us, where we can let you know about the challenging but rewarding role of foster carer.
Our UK Fostering Foster Carers would like to share with you some of their fostering experiences, and why they love supporting young people at an often confusing and difficult time in their lives. Today we hear from Vikki and Marc:
When people find out that we’re a foster family they immediately say…oh I don’t know how you do it…I’d get too attached…it would break my heart when they leave…
Our hearts actually sink when these comments are made.
My husband and I have moved sibling groups on to adoption to their forever families, we have moved siblings’ home to parents. Both of these scenarios have filled our hearts with love and happiness.
We are very lucky to have been part of their lives and helping them become ‘confident, happy little people.’
Sometimes you can continue your relationships after handing over the reins. These little people that you love unconditionally can move their attachment and still have room for you in their hearts.
Could you do that?
Become a foster carer, it’ll be the best thing you do… Pinky promise.
