Foster care training is an important part of the process of becoming a foster carer. At UK Fostering we recognize that each foster carer has a unique set of skills and life experiences which enable them to understand young people and be supportive foster carers. We also believe firmly that every foster carer can benefit from specialist training, whether it’s on aspects such as health and safety or how to manage challenging behavior.
As well as completing the Skills to Foster training as part of the assessment process, UK Fostering also offers a complete training and workshop programme to our foster carers once approved. This offers them the chance to learn all the skills they need to be even better at caring for young people and children.

Why foster care training matters
We are very aware that fostering can be challenging at times, and that it is very much a vocation. Because of this, we want to give our foster carers every opportunity to grow and develop in their sectors. It’s also important that we equip them with the tools they need to cope with any obstacles which may arise.
We support our foster carers to complete the induction standards of the Children’s Workforce Development Council (TSDS). We also offer opportunities to complete an NVQ level three course ‘children and young people’.
If you have any questions on the foster care training we provide, or you’d like to find out more about becoming a foster parent, please get in touch with the team at UK Fostering, We’d be happy to help.
