Nicky Hudson – Regional Director – North East / Registered Manager for UK Fostering (NE)

Nicky is a highly qualified and experienced social worker with a diverse background in child protection and management. With a career spanning over three decades, Nicky has continuously pursued professional development, earning an MA in Child Protection Studies and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. This extensive educational background demonstrates Nicky’s commitment to staying up to date with the latest practices and knowledge in the field.

In addition to their academic achievements, Nicky has gained practical experience in various settings, including working as a foster carer for 12 years.

​ This hands-on experience has provided Nicky with a deep understanding of the challenges and complexities involved in caring for vulnerable children. Nicky’s expertise extends beyond direct care, as they have also served as an Independent Reviewing Officer in the Children’s Safeguarding Standards Unit of a Local Authority.  This role involved ensuring that the welfare and rights of children in care were protected and that appropriate support and services were provided.

Furthermore, Nicky has made significant contributions to the field through independent consultancy and training. Specializing in parenting assessments and viability assessments, Nicky has helped professionals in the UK and abroad improve their skills in foster carer recruitment, assessment, and support.

As a Registered Manager for UK Fostering NE and Safeguarding Committee Chair for UK Fostering, Nicky retains her  passion for improving the lives of children and families.
