Nicky Hudson – Regional Director – North East / Registered Manager for UK Fostering (NE)

In 1991, Nicky qualified as a social worker, subsequently earning an MA in Child Protection Studies in July 1998. Additionally, Nicky obtained qualifications as an NVQ assessor and practice assessor. On 30th June 2021, Nicky passed the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services – Children and Young People’s Management, enabling registration as the Manager for the NE Region.

Formerly, Nicky served as a foster carer for 12 years and has amassed experience across various settings, including child protection, a residential family assessment centre, independent fostering agencies, Chichester University, and as an Independent Reviewing Officer in the Children’s Safeguarding Standards Unit of a Local Authority. Throughout Nicky’s career, there was involvement in independent consultancy and training, with specialization in parenting assessments and viability assessments (PAMs trained). Working in both the public and private sectors in the North and Southeast, Nicky also contributed to international training efforts, developing and conducting sessions in Belarus, Budapest, and Armenia for ‘Leaves of Hope’, aimed at training professionals in foster carer recruitment, assessment, and support within these countries.
