Every child deserves someone who believes in them. During this year’s Foster Care Fortnight from 12th to 25th May, we’re celebrating the connections that make fostering possible—the powerful, life-changing relationships at the heart of every story.
This year’s theme, The Power of Relationships, shines a spotlight on what truly matters in the fostering journey. Whether it’s the deep bond between a foster carer and a child, the steady guidance of social workers, the enduring ties with birth families, or the friendships built in fostering communities—these relationships bring comfort, trust, and hope.
For children and young people in care, relationships provide stability in times of uncertainty. They are the golden thread that runs through healing, growth, and opportunity. A kind word, a consistent presence, a patient ear—these are the everyday acts that shape futures.
At UK Fostering, we’ve seen firsthand how meaningful relationships can transform lives. We’ve witnessed children thrive because someone showed up, stayed present, and believed in them. We’ve seen foster carers find strength through community, and families grow in the most unexpected ways.
Together, let’s honour the relationships that matter—and perhaps inspire those reading this to become part of a new generation of carers.
At the heart of fostering, it’s all about connection. And connection changes everything.
