Tainted Love Book Review + Book Signing information
Stunningly moving and desperately sad. You’ll be puffing out your cheeks, shaking your head and pleading out loud “oh no please no” as you travel through each story.
Tainted love is the follow up story to the critically acclaimed ‘Hackney Child’. Whilst delving back into the life of Hope and her brothers, it also describes the journey of other children who were in the care system following their removal from their families. Each child has a start in life so desperately sad you’ll be holding on to your own children in disbelief. As the reader, at times you are the child, confused and fearful, at other times you are the outside observer angry but impotent and unable to help. As you desperately turn the pages wanting to hear that it’s got better for the children, you may be hard pressed (like me) to put the book down.
With its honest depictions about the good and the bad of the care sector there is much to ponder, whether as a parent, foster carer or social care professional. A common and recurring theme is the lack of the child’s input in the decisions being made about their lives. What makes the book so emotionally captivating is that you know there are other children just likes these who are suffering right now at the hands of adults that are supposedly caring for them. We can only hope that they are lucky enough to be found quickly before they suffer further!
Tainted Love is the second book by Jenny Molloy (AKA Hope) and is available to pre order on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tainted-Love-Hope-Daniels/dp/1471129888
