Fostering in your area

Local Authorities all across the UK continue to require fostering placements with independent fostering agencies such as UK Fostering. Whilst Local Authorities usually strive to have their own ‘in house’ foster carers, due to the large number of children and young people in the care system, there are often not enough foster carers available to meet these needs. This is where we can help to make a real difference.

Independent Fostering Agencies

As an independent agency, UK Fostering aims to assist in meeting this demand for foster carers, providing loving families for those children who would otherwise be awaiting the care they need to grow. In some cases we are the preferred agency of Local Authorities because our foster families have the specific skills required for the children referred to us. In others, we are chosen because we can respond promptly to the needs of a child, providing quality foster carers with a variety of skills and experience.

Types of Fostering Available
We offer a range of different fostering options to suit the requirements of Local Authorities. These include short term and emergency fostering, as well as longer term fostering placements. We also provide specialist fostering placements such as remand fostering, respite fostering and therapeutic fostering. For more information on these fostering services, please see our Types of Fostering section.

Foster Carers and Cultural Diversity

The UK is traditionally a richly mixed and diverse group of cultures and ethnicities and the children coming into care reflect that. UK Fostering aims to match the foster carer’s cultural and religious backgrounds with those of the children coming into care wherever possible. We take the matching process for children and foster carers extremely seriously and always strive for the best outcome possible for the child’s wellbeing.
